Does anyone else see the irony in this offer? Just wondering.
So I guess I'll start with my weekend down the shore. Emily lives one block from the beach. So I've already started planning out my weekends this summer. Good thing NJ transit buses down to Tom's River! :)
So we unfortunately didn't get to Seaside until after the parade. But this didn't stop us from
having fun. The best part was that Emily has friends who are cops, so they just dropped us off and drove us home, so the overpriced cabs were not needed. The only thing about these bars is that they're all open since they're on the boardwalk, so we were FREEZING. But regardless, it made me really excited for the summer. :)At one point, some girl walked by me and just handed me her green feather boa. So of course we needed to pose for pictures with that.
Although after about five minutes I understood why that girl just handed it to me. It was really annoying to hold on to that stupid thing. So the day was very uneventful, but a lot of fun.....oh, wait, I almost forgot. There was something eventful that happened....
CLEMSON BEAT DUKE!!!! IN BASKETBALL!!! Holy crap! In the ACC Tournament!!! Emily and I were yelling the Clemson cadence count up and down the boardwalk. And sadly, no one knew what we were cheering about. :(

Now, we didn't beat UNC in the championship, but that's okay. we played hard and we are a #5 seed in the tournament. I'd like to thank Scott van Pelt from ESPN for his prediction that the ACC championship was not going to be UNC-Duke. He's an ACC alum, he knows what's up.So we'll play Villanova Friday night at 950p. So thank you to the schedulers that have us playing Friday night and not during the day or Thursday night. Otherwise I wouldn't be able to watch. And a quick side note....nearly every College basketball analyst on ESPN has picked UCLA, UNC, Kansas and Memphis for the Final Four. Seriously? All 4 number 1 seeds? And you guys are really getting paid for this kind of analysis? Give me a break! Watch, come April 5th, I'll be eating my words.
Just in case anyone is wondering, I have Texas, Kansas, Louisville and Duke with Texas over Kansas in the finals. Before anyone criticizes me, no sports analysis went into these choices. I just randomly selected. I at least have enough common sense to know that all 4 #1 seeds making the final four is damn near impossible. In fact, I don't think it's ever happened (if anyone can confirm or deny this, please do so).
Okay, so Monday morning I had what I thought was my final interview with Company B. It was actually held at their NJ office which is about 10 minutes away from where I'm staying. It went really well, the manager I met with started out in the position for which I'm interviewing and has been there for about 12 years. It's always a nice sign when the people you're meeting with have been there a while.
After my interview, Occifer Lembo came to get me so we could go the Emerald Society party at Chelsea Piers. We didn't get into the city until about one after picking up everyone, but we did get a good parking deal right across the street from the Pier.
It was a good deal. $35 all you can eat and drink from 1-5.

Here's a shot of me and Lembo on the Pier; it ended up being a pretty nice day out.
And here's a picture of me and my cousin Tom. Now, Tom is a detective with the NYPD. I was hoping that he would be wearing his uniform so we could get a pic of him all decked out since he had marched. So I asked him why he wasn't in uniform and actually, it makes sense. It's now a rule that if the cops are not on duty, they have to change out of uniform. Because let's be honest, the last thing NYC (or any city for that matter) needs is a bunch of drunk cops in uniform roaming the city wasted. Probably not the best idea. Oh well. At least the Hoff was there. So Tuesday I had my second interview with Company C. I was really excited for this interview because I had such a good feeling after the recruiter. Well, the interview went well, but VP said he wasn't looking to make a decision for another few weeks or maybe even months. Bummer. So obviously I'm on a bit of a time crunch here. Waiting a few months for a job that may never even come is not exactly in my schedule. And pay was never brought up, so it may not be worth it anyhow.
So that morning, Company B had called me and left a voicemail. I hadn't had the chance to call them back since I had been traipsing around the city all day. But when I got out of my interview, they had also sent me an email. So I called them back and left a voicemail. I thought at this point they were calling to make me an offer. To my surprise, when they called back, it was to ask me to come in on Friday. Now Steve, Sawyer's boyfriend who works for this company, is convinced they're going to offer it to me on Friday. If I get there and they offer it to me, do you think they'll reimburse me for the $10.50 it costs in order to get in and out of the city? not to mention the $2 in quarters for the meter where I park my car and the $4 for the subway ride there and back. so $16.50. I'm unemployed! NO PAYCHECK! so $16.50 could buy me a few lean cuisines to serve as dinner. In all seriousness, I would never ask for them to reimburse me, I'm just getting cranky from this whole process. Although my interview is at 12n. Kind of an odd time. Maybe they'll ask me to join them for lunch while we catch some of the tourney. Ha! One can dream.
So that's about it for now. Pretty low-key weekend planned. Watching basketball with Sawyer and Steve Friday night. Steve wants to go to Hooters, and while some girls may find that offensive, I think that it's actually very appropriate since we're gong to watch my Clemson Tigers play and the founder of Hooters went to Clemson. Hence all the orange. So why not. Saturday I'll be hanging out with Nance, then on Sunday will be spending Easter with Sawyer and her family. Let's hope by then I have a job!!!
So if I get word on the job front, I'll post, otherwise you won't hear from me until next week!
