Final Four, the Beach Boys, and Cosmo--PSYCH!

So I know I said I wouldn't post for a while, but a few things have come up that need to be discussed.

First off, let's talk the Final Four. My passionate love affair with Davidson is cut short---until next season. My brackets are all completely busted, so I'm no longer involved in a monetary sense. But right now I'd have to go with UNC or UCLA. Out of all four #1 seeds (okay, side note--four #1 seeds in the final four?! Freaking boring. What was the point of the tournament then? Ugh), UNC is the only team that has convincingly won every game they've played in the tournament. Their closest win was against Louisville, a #3 seed, and they still won by 10. Kansas barely squeaked by Davidson (a #10 seed), Memphis nearly lost to Miss St (a #8 seed) and UCLA almost gave me a heart attack when they narrowly beat Texas A&M (a #9 seed). So UNC is the logical choice. UCLA is a whole different story.

Here's the reason why I want UCLA to win.

For those of you who don't know him, meet Kevin Love. He plays for UCLA. First, let me clear something up. I'm not jumping on the Kevin Love bandwagon because Curry is no longer in the tourney. To be honest, Love's not my type. The perfectly manicured beard screams high maintenance.

The reason I'm all about Love right now is because of who his uncle is. The legendary Mike Love of the Beach Boys. You know, Surfin' USA, I Get Around, Help Me Rhonda, etc. And besides, Love is just a cool last name. Anyway, I have this awesome fantasy for how the championship game could go down.

Here's how it would work: UCLA defeats either UNC or Kansas; Kevin Love has an amazing game and is named MVP (side note: I don't even know if they name MVPs for these games, so if not, just bear with me). When the reporter asks him the age-old question, "Kevin, you just led UCLA to the national title and were named MVP. What are you going to do now!?" He then replies, "I'm going to KOKOMO!" And the Beach Boys perform. BRILLIANT. How could you root for any other team with this as a possible scenario?! Seriously?!

At this point I was going to include a video of The Beach Boys "Kokomo" with John Stamos from "Full House" on the drums, but I found this one and liked it better.

I just had a thought---Muppets + Sports = pure bliss. What could be better. And I thought those sausage races they had in Milwaukee were funny.

Oh, the Muppets playing sports would be PHENOMENAL. Can you imagine Animal going nuts when Rowlf robs him of a home run?! or Piggy when she gets hit by a pitch?! They'd make Larry Bowa look like a pansy. Why has no one thought of this before?!

Okay, I'm off the whole Final Four/Beach Boys/Muppets thing. So that brings us to Cosmo. I received this month's issue of Cosmo with that chick from Heroes on the cover. I'm skimming through when I come to the below article:

The article talks about how to handle being dumped, being broke, being betrayed, and most appropriately for yours truly, being laid off. Actually, it says fired, but whatever. So I'm reading the article, blah blah blah, and then see this:

What? WHAT? Okay, people, level with me. Who works for Cosmo? Because that was just a little too specific. Really now.

Okay, a quick shout-out. This Sunday, at 9P on NBC, one of my favorite shows, "Psych" will be making it's broadcast debut. "Psych" is usually on USA, but I guess NBC needs to fill time while waiting for new episodes of their other shows. If you consider yourself a child of the 80s and love obscure (and sometimes not-so-obscure) 80s references, then you should enjoy this show. Also, Sunday's episode has Lou Diamond Phillips making a guest appearance and it's classic. Yes, Lou Diamond Phillips as in Ritchie Valens from one of my favorite 80s movies, "La Bamba." Here's the commercial from when this episode originally aired on USA. Note the Easy Bake oven. :)

Hope everyone is well!
