Last Day of the Commute

So today was (is) the last day of my commute from the 'Wood. I shall miss my rude and ornery bus driver who today all of a sudden developed a sunny disposition despite the weather. I shall miss the 10 minute walk from the port authority to my subway and the chance of running into Loonam again. I'll miss the short man playing the accordion in the breezeway and the bible beaters screaming at me that I'm going to hell every morning. I'll miss the TWENTY (yes, 20) billboards in a row promoting ESPN Radio in NY with Mike and Mike in the morning and Michael Kay in the afternoons. Really, Citadel, you can't spend your money in other ways? 20 billboards back to back to back? And it made me wonder how Michael Kay makes it from the studio to Yankee stadium for all those night games during the week for YES. But anyway.

I'm not going to miss any of that crap. Well, except for the possibility of running into Loonam, that's always fun. Yesterday I picked up the keys to my apartment and finally met Bailey, my other roommate. I can't wait to start staying there on Sunday night. I'm looking forward to not getting up at 530 in the morning and not rushing to the port authority at 5P to catch the Express bus back to the 'Wood.

Instead, I get to share a bathroom with two other girls, sleep on an air mattress until I buy a new bed, and walk 7 blocks to the subway. I sound sarcastic, but I'm truly pumped. I actually need to learn the whole bus system. There's a bus that goes from 88th and York to 57th and 7th, so that will be my mode on rainy days and when it's cold. Or hot, for that matter.

Tonight I'm going to a jeans party. I had no idea what this was when Sawyer asked me if I wanted to go. Her cousin works for DKNY and apparently we get to buy designer jeans for $70. Oh hell yes.

So yesterday I was researching the Rochester, NY market, and as a last resort, went over to Wikipedia. Apparently, there's a link on there when looking up towns and cites called, "notable residents." So I decided to look up Ridgewood and this is what I found:

There are always rumors flying around about what celebrities live in Ridgewood. But this one is new. So I asked the all-knowing Officer Lembo who said the following:

"as Michael Scott so eliquently put it: 'Wikipedia is the best thing ever. Anyone in the world can write anything they want about any subject, so you know you are getting the best possible information.' "

And

"Sooo Johnny Damon does not live in Ridgewood (Ive been in the house he "does") butttt that doesnt mean you should be a sad panda... Ive almost confirmed that Chien-Ming Wang does."

I'll take Wang over Damon any day. Anyway, I then spent the next hour or so just plugging in random towns in Bergen County. Look up "Saddle River, NJ," that one's fun. Check out how much Russell Simmons' house is going for.

Okay, lunchtime.
