Yes, it's me. I've returned from the land of weddings, bridal showers, Broadway shows, working late, and what have you.
The Weddings were fun....

The Weddings were fun....

...Silly fun.

The RHS crew at Pollock's Wedding.
Had a LATE night out with Nance (We shut the bar down. Literally. As in, they actually had to unlock the doors to let us out).
And I got to get together with the camp crew as well!

So needless to say, I've been a busy, busy bee!
So I'll just re-cap the highlights that aren't pictured. First and the most interesting, I had yet another celebrity sighting. This was a double whammy.
To set the story, we have to go back, back, waaaay back. Okay, not that far back. Just to a few weeks ago when my roommate went to an Indigo Girls concert. Lucy Wainwright Roche (daughter of Loudon, sister of Rufus) was there and The Indigo Girls invited her up on stage for a few songs. Jess thought she was pretty good and wanted to see her sing again. So by the power of the Internet, Jess found this concert. Martha Pilmpton? Really? From Goonies? Okay. I was game.
So we bought our tickets and headed to The Zipper Factory in the not-so-safest of neighborhoods. The theatre is attached to a bar, so we had a few drinks before they opened up the doors. The whole time, Jess was seeing stars. She swore everyone she saw was a celebrity.
"See that girl? She's the redheaded girl from Mr. Holland's Opus."
Okay, not exactly A-List, but whatever.
Then she was convinced that this handsome fellow standing with his friends was Billy Crudup. I told her, "you just want him to be Billy Crudup!" That was until he turned and looked straight in our direction and I realized it was Billy Crudup. And he's extremely handsome in person. However, it's a shame that he's almost as well known for his acting as he is for leaving Mary-Louise Parker for Claire Danes when she was 8 months pregnant with their child. Crying shame.
Not bad, not bad says I. Not quite as A-List as Diddy, but not nearly as pathetic as Clay Aiken. No, we didn't talk to Mr. Crudup. Just kind of checked him out from time to time. I mean, the guy is a skeeze, but he's pretty easy on the eyes.
So the doors to the theatre opened and we opted for seats up in the "nosebleed" section. This venue held between 100-200 people, so it's not really nosebleed. We sit down, I turn my phone on silent, and Jess leans over to me and says, "Now, don't freak out, and don't look right now, but Mike Myers is sitting right behind you." And yes he was. In nerdy glasses and a zip up sweatshirt was Mike Myers sitting within about 2 feet from me.
My mother asked how we recognized him. Well here's the thing. You know Shrek? Austin Powers? Dr. Evil? Fat Bastard? Wayne Campbell? Hell, even Sprockets or Linda Richman (dad's favorite)? The man's voice is so distinguishable, he could have been dressed in drag and we would have figured it out. But props to Jess for even looking around, I just don't pay attention!
Anyway, no, we didn't talk to him either. We're New Yorkers, we're too cool to care. ;) Although in all honesty, I had heard he's an ass, so I didn't want to approach him anyway.
As for the concert, I was impressed. Martha Plimpton has a great voice. And Rufus Wainwright stopped by and played Hallelujah. And I nearly passed out it was so beautiful. What a great song. Ironically, as Nancy pointed out, it's played at the end of Shrek. They must have known Shrek himself was going to be there.
Also since my last post, I got to see A Chorus Line with Mario Lopez (sucked) and Legally Blonde with Bailey Hanks, the winner from MTV's reality show "The Search for the Next Elle Woods." Legally Blonde was absolutely adorable and just plain fun. If you like the movie, then you know what to expect and it doesn't disappoint.
And I just about finished all those avails I was moaning about. Finished as in the money is starting to get booked. Yay!
Big plans for the weekend! Headed to a surprise party tonight at The Blue Owl for a friend of a friend, then tomorrow is the mini-camp reunion! We're supposed to hang out in the park and then go out on the town, but don't know if the weather will hold up! Let's keep our fingers crossed! Taking Monday off to hang out with my favorite Aussie, Mel who is in town until Thursday.

Have a great weekend everyone!
Current Book: The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold (read it before, but wanted to read it again with the movie coming out next year)

Glad you're enjoying living and working in Manhattan or as we Bronxites would say ""downtown".
